The short version: the XML files you convert never leave your computer. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and conversions. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it sets no analytics cookies. There are no ads.
Your files
The converter runs in your browser. Files you drop, pick or paste are read and converted on your device and are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We can’t see them, store them or recover them. The CSV or Excel file you download is created on your device too. When you close the tab, the page forgets them.
What we collect
We don’t have accounts, forms or a user database. What we do receive comes from Google Analytics:
- Google Analytics records page views and one event,
file_converted, when a conversion finishes. It holds exactly six things: the page, the output format (CSV or Excel), the file’s size as a range (for example “10–50 MB”), the row count as a range (for example “1k–100k”), the time taken in whole seconds, and whether you changed the “One row per” choice. It never holds file names, column names or any value from your file. Google Analytics also collects the usual technical data (approximate location from your IP address, browser, device type, the page that referred you) and, where cookies are allowed, sets cookies to tell visits apart.
Your browser also sends the usual request data (IP address, browser, the page requested) to our web host when it loads a page. The host keeps standard server logs for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics runs without cookies: nothing is stored on your device for analytics. Google still receives the page views and the conversion event described above, with the usual technical data, but without a cookie that recognizes you on your next visit.
Elsewhere, analytics cookies are on by default. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.
Browser storage
The converter keeps one setting in your browser’s local storage: the CSV delimiter you last picked (comma, semicolon or tab), so it’s preselected next time. Nothing about your files is stored. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Children
XMLTable isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, or to object to its use. Since we hold no accounts or files, most of that data sits with Google; its privacy policy explains how to exercise those rights there. For anything about this site, email [email protected].
Changes
When this policy changes, we update it here and change the date at the top.
